Software piracy

Software piracy is the unauthorized copying or distribution of copyright software.
This can be done by copying, downloding,sharing,selling or installing multiple copies onto personal to work computes. When you purchase a software,you are actually purchasing a license to use it, not the actual software.that license is what tells you how many times you can install the software, so it's important to read it. If you make more copies of the software then the license permits , you are pirating.
Buying duplicated copies of a program or sharing a program with a friend can count as piracy, as installing a program on multiple computers simultaneously often violates the program license agreement.

Types of software piracy include

Softlifting: borrowing and installing a copy of a software application from a colleague.
Client-server overuse: installing more copies of the software than you have licenses for.
Hard-disk loading: installing and selling unauthorized copies of software on refurbished or new computer.
Counterfeiting: duplicating and selling copyright program.

Impacts of software piracy

Security risks

Pirated software can carry viruses and other types of malware that in fact computers.
Some copies of pirated software can't update properly, leading users to continue using old version with security holes.

Productivity risks

Using outdated pirated software can cause users to encounter bugs,leading to loss of work and time and resulting frustration.
Pirated programs lake a warranty and access to costumer support, making it more difficult to get help when problem occur.

Legal risks

Using pirated software carrying high penalties under copyright law for users caught in the act.

Economic risks

Pirated software takes away sales of legitimate software. Actual software developer and deprived of achieving full sales of their products.
